It also takes away the need to measure or guess on anything. Here is a quick guide on how to install child proof cabinet latches using adhesive tape:

• Check first that your purchase is complete. These packages would typically include the latch, catch, and double-sided adhesive. They may also provide you with screws, as it is still an option.
• Do not take off the latch from the catch. The installation will be easier if you don’t separate the catch and the latch.
• Identify the placement of the catch. Open your cabinet door and position the flat side of the catch on the inside of the cabinet. It should be found just behind the cabinet door, mounted on the upper edge with its screw holes positioned towards the cabinet door.
• Make sure that the placement is just right. The catch should be mounted near the edge or where the cabinet opens. Position it around an inch or two from the edge. But do not stick it at the very edge. The latches need to be pushed down from the outside. You need enough space to put a finger through.
• Stick on the catch. When you are ready, take off the adhesive cover and stick it onto the desired position.

Childproof cabinet latches that are installed with screws are sturdier than those mounted with adhesives. The downside is that the installation is more complicated. The following is a guide on how to install childproof cabinet latches with screws:

• Check first that your purchase is complete. The most important parts are the latches, catches, and screws, but the pack would usually contain adhesive and a template for the drilling holes.
• Identify the other materials which you might need. It is best to look for an electric drill to make the installation easier. The electronic drill bit shouldn’t be wider or bigger than the shank of the screw. Also, prepare a bit of tape if it wasn’t provided in the pack.
• Identify the placement of the catch. Open your cabinet door and position the flat side of the catch on the inside of the cabinet. It should be found just behind the cabinet door, mounted on the upper edge with its screw holes positioned towards the cabinet door.

It should have holes or circles similar to the screw holes on the catch. Fold the template in half and tape it onto the door top. Align the holes of the template onto the screw holes.
• Drill the holes onto the cabinet door. After carefully aligning the template to the catch, you will now have a guide to where you need to drill. After drilling, take off the template.
• Screw the latch onto the holes made on the door.
• Check if it works well.
